Campsite Information

We have been working on the Elkhorn Horsecamp in the Elliot State forest for some time now, with the help of the Oregon Department of Forestry. We have 9 campsites leveled and graveled. They are doing tests for the sites on the outhouses. Our club has been up clearing brush and building picnic tables. We plan on clearing more brush, building more picnic tables, and building corrals by the end of fall. We have a very busy schedule planned ahead of us. Below are some photos of us hard at work.

We had 9 members show up on Father's Day weekend for a work party. We were able to begin clearing brush and install some picnic tables.

Members:Jenny Riesen & Mike Badgwell     Here's all the fun: Kirstyn Riesen & Chance Marone they were hard little workers.

It took most of Saturday to clear the brush, and retrieve the cedar posts. Dinner was a wonderful stir fry, and it could not have tasted better. I think we were all a little hungry. Sunday we started on the picnic tables.

Members: Carolyn Gibson, Evelyn & Jack Christian. Putting in the first post of the picnic tables. Lining them striaght was a multi-person job.

Jack Christian, Leroy Gibson, & John Shawl drilling the holes for the 1st picnic table. Val Shawl & Evelyn Christian digging the holes for the bench seats, while the others worked on the next table top.

Kirstyn Riesen & Chance Marone trying out the bench just their size, while John Shawl & Jenny Riesen work on the other "kids" bench. They can also be used for ice chests, lanterns, or cookstoves.
